When we heard little Kit’s life was in danger at the local shelter, we immediately stepped in and brought this spunky Pomeranian/Jack Russell mix into our care. At only 8 months old, Kit had never been taught the skills he needed to be a well-mannered pup, and he was known for having fits when life did not go the way he wanted. Our friend and KAWS supporter/volunteer, Mimi, offered to help, and so she brought Kit into her home as a foster pup. During his time with Mimi, Kit went on many hikes and runs, attended training classes, and learned more and more about how to behave appropriately. Soon, he was ready for his forever family, which he found in a lovely lady named Kelly. Kelly was looking for a constant companion to travel with her between California and Hawai`i, and Kit was exactly what she was looking for. Kelly and Kit now spend their days together- going to the dog park, the gym, the grocery store, “…where he greets everyone like a perfect gentleman,” says Kelly. Kit is the perfect example of the type of pup, who, with structure, training, and consistency, can be a wonderful pet. We are thankful for Mimi who helped Kit with his fresh start and Kelly who has continued to show Kit leadership and love. He is “my world,” states Kelly, and from the way he looks at her, we are sure Kit is saying the same about Kelly. Congratulations Kit and Kelly!
